Contact the Queen#

Background: After Cory proved she could survive in the city, Blackjack Mel offered her a way to contact the Queen’s Men leadership. Theobroma and Margareta have expressed concern about this connection.

Outcome: Cory dropped 100 gold and a note into the well behind Smee’s Palace during Session 5. This fulfilled the initial dues and established Cory as a contact of the Queen’s Men. The party is now free to operate in Buckledown Row and may receive work from the crews.

Find Balthazar Adamos#

Background: Lucretia Mathias offered to cure the party’s contamination in exchange for locating Balthazar Adamos, a disciple who went missing. He was last seen at the Black Ivory Inn in northeast Drakkenheim — across the Drann River. The congregation is too busy with incoming pilgrims to send anyone themselves.

Find Donovan#

Background: Donovan left the family provisioning business seeking fortune in Drakkenheim. He was seen at the Bark and Buzzard in Emberwood Village until about a week ago, then disappeared. He has since found employment as Blackjack Mel’s personal appraiser — but the party has not connected the name they met at the Padlock Tavern to the name Eren mentioned.

Rescue Petra Lang#

Background: Petra was leading an expedition when ratlings captured her team. Ansom tracked them to the Rat’s Nest Tavern but was wounded and driven off. Ratlings keep prisoners alive (for food), so she may still be alive.

    • Party reached the Rat’s Nest Tavern on Scrag Lane. Cleared the outer barricade room and inner sanctum (ratling warlock killed). No sign of Petra in the explored sections. Warren extends further; party retreated for a short rest.
  • Session 4
    • Party returns and defeats the ratling commander and remaining forces. Petra is found alive in the inner chamber, held by the ratling prince. Party negotiates her release for 100gp. Petra is escorted to Shepherd’s Gate Garrison and reunited with the Hooded Lanterns. Quest completed.

Restore the Throne#

  • Location: Drakkenheim
  • Objective: Help restore the rightful monarch to Drakkenheim’s throne

Background: Margareta carries a letter from the Giantfrost Ordning regarding restoring the throne. The Hooded Lanterns share this goal.

The Six Seals of Drakkenheim: According to Blackjack Mel, the throne cannot be taken by anyone without six ancient magical artifacts required for the coronation ceremony — the Chancellor’s Crest, Inscrutable Staff, Lord Commander’s Badge, Saint Vitruvio’s Phylactery, Spymaster’s Signet, and Steward’s Seal. These were held by the most powerful officials of the old city. None are currently located. The Queen’s Men believe gathering these seals is the path to legitimate rule.

Retrieve Delerium Node#

Background: River has heard that a large delerium node exists under the remains of the Rat’s Nest Tavern. The Amethyst Academy needs delerium to power arcane devices in the Inscrutable Tower. River asked the party to bring it back to her before selling to other buyers.

    • Node located in the inner sanctum of the Rat’s Nest Tavern warren — used as a Rat God idol (~2 lbs, largest delerium piece seen so far). Extraction begun (~15 of 30 minutes) then interrupted by returning ratlings. Node remains in place.
  • Session 4
    • Party returns to the warren and successfully extracts the delerium crystal (~2 lbs). Delivered to River at Eckerman Mill for payment of 1,250gp. Quest completed.

Retrieve Scepter of Saint Vitruvio#

Background: The Silver Order has a lead on the Scepter of Saint Vitruvio and cannot allow it to fall into the hands of thieves or cultists. Ophelia Reed purged Heda’s contamination in exchange for his help retrieving it.

    • Party is holding the scepter while gathering intelligence on each faction’s intentions
    • Delivering to Silver Order: favor with Ophelia Reed; Silver Order will destroy Delerium
    • Delivering to Queen’s Men: significant favor with the Queen; Cory wants their help to avenge her brother against Commander Drexel

    • Met with Nathaniel Flint (Falling Fire) and Blackjack Mel (Queen’s Men); confirmed neither wants the scepter directly — Mel confirmed it is not one of the Six Seals
    • Met with Lucretia Mathias (Falling Fire leader); she examined the scepter but returned it to Heda as “caretaker” — the Falling Fire trust him with it
    • Heda used the scepter in combat for the first time: Flame Strike vs. Wailing Undead; Guiding Bolt vs. ooze
    • 700 XP bonus awarded for presenting the scepter to Lucretia Mathias
    • Status updated: Scepter remains with the party indefinitely; Silver Order meeting (Ophelia Reed) still pending
